EASTHAM BOARD OF HEALTH WORKSHOP
MONDAY, JULY 22, 2013 AT 9:00AM
Present: Dr. Joanna Buffington, Dr. Martin Haspel, Dr. James Taylor, Chair, Beverly Knox, Pat LaRiviere, Charles Harris, Jane Crowley, Susan Barker
Jane Crowley provided updates as follows:
- Landfill – Phase 3 was expanded and is underway
- Hazardous Waste Day was conducted on July 20, 2013
Discussion was held to plan the Board of Health’s booth at Windmill Weekend. Topics to include were:
- Tick
- Sun Screen
- Blood Pressure readings
- Flu Clinic
- Hazardous Waste Day
- Medical Waste Day and Drop Off Box
- What is happening with water?
- Landfill Update – Next Steps
- Water Management
The BOH will only attend on Saturday. A schedule of who will attend when will be developed.
- POND PLAN – UPDATED DRAFT
Review and discussion of the draft Water Quality, version 0.8 dated July 1, 2013 took place. Corrections and edits suggested by the BOH were as follows:
- Page 7 – “Require maximum setbacks feasible from surface water for new and replacement septic system.”
- Control phosphorus through best management practices
Comments were requested from all on the Pond Brochure. Please send to Charles Harris.
This is Pat LaRiviere’s last meeting. Everyone will miss her on the Board of Health.
